Ermana uses essential oils through out most of the products for their scent as well as their therapeutic properties.
We do, however, offer a fragrance free Soothe Mama range where we don't use essential oils making the products suitable for those with ultra sensitive skin and expectant Mums.
We only use the finest and purest oils, sourced from ethical suppliers who are committed to producing high quality products.

Bergamot is a beautifully uplifting citrus oil which comes from the Bergamot tree. This tree takes its name from Bergamo in Northern Italy, around where it was originally cultivated. The fruit is similar to a miniature orange has been used for hundreds of years in Italian folk medicine. It has antiseptic properties, making it ideal for oily skin and infected skin conditions.
We blend Bergamot with sweet orange and coriander to create our Nurture Body Oil.
Cedarwood comes from the Atlas Cedar tree and was used by ancient civilisations in medicine, cosmetics and perfumery. The Egyptians used it for embalming. It has a warm woody masculine fragrance and is a mild astringent with antiseptic qualities making it ideal for treating acne.
We blend Cedarwood with Vetiver to create our Endure Men’s face Oil.
Coriander oil is detoxifying, warming and energising. Coriander Seed is a fragrant, exotic oil that has been used for thousands of years in Asian countries, can stimulate the appetite and is excellent in relieving occasional digestive upset. It helps elevate mood, calms frazzled nerves, helps with mental focus and aids in relaxation before sleep. It is often used to ease aching muscles and joints and is thought to be helpful with digestive issues. A revitalising and naturally detoxifying oil that is thought to be useful in helping aid concentration and ease combat feelings of fatigue. When used in massage, it can flush out toxins and help aid digestion. We blend coriander with bergamot and sweet orange in our Nurture Body Oil.
Cypress comes from the leaves and cones of the ever green cypress tree. With its lovely smoky woody smell it is particularly good for oily and over hydrated skin. Cypress is often used in Men’s toiletries due to its antiseptic and astringent qualities.
Eucalyptus is best known as a decongestant inhalation for colds and catarrh but it also has very powerful bacterial and antiviral properties. Australian aborigines bind eucalyptus leaves around serious wounds to aid in the healing process. It is also very valuable for burns and can help to form new tissue as the burn heals.
We blend Eucalyptus with Rosemary and Marjoram to create our Tone Muscle Balm.
Frankincense is a beautiful essential oil which comes from a small tree native to North Africa and some Arab countries. The oil is extracted from the resin of the bark of the tree. It is particularly helpful for older skins as it tones the skin and can slow down the appearance of wrinkles. This wonderful essential oil promotes the regeneration of new skin cells and also keeps the existing cells and tissues healthy. Frankincense is also an amazing anti-aging agent which can help to eliminate sun spots, remove wrinkles around the eyes and cheeks, and generally tone and tighten skin all over your body.
We blend Frankincense with Lavender to create our Revive Face Oil.
Galbanum has been known since the times of the ancient Romans and Greeks, where it was burnt in incense sticks, mixed in bath water, used in skin balms, and as a perfume. It has a fresh earthy and woody aroma and is extracted by steam distillation of the resin that is obtained from the Galbanum plant. This is a wonderful oil for the skin as it rejuvenates aging skin and gives it a younger and toned look. Hailed an oil which can give you “an organic facelift” as it smooths skin while giving it a lovely glow. Stretch marks and cracked skin can also be treated by using this oil.
We blend Galbanum with Grapefruit to create our Cleanse Balm and Refine Cleansing Oil.
Geranium oil is obtained by steam distillation from the leaves of the geranium flower. It has a rose like floral scent and is often used in skincare for its delightful perfume as well as its astringent and antiseptic properties. It balances the skin making it ideal for both dry and oily skin. Geranium also has a stimulating effect on the lymphatic system meaning that it’s ideal for the treatment of cellulite and will help the body eliminate excess fluids.
We blend Geranium with Lavender and Ylang Ylang to create our Comfort products.
Grapefruit oil, like the fruit is rich in antioxidants and full of vitamin C. Like the essential oils of most citrus fruits, grapefruit has an uplifting and relaxing effect on mind. It refreshes and tones the skin and is particularly good for oily skin. It also acts a diuretic helping the body to get rid of excess water. It’s the perfect oil to use to treat cellulite and helps to clear the body of toxins due to the way it boosts the lymphatic system. If you think you need a tonic for any reason, then grapefruit should be your go to oil, it has long been known as a great tonic for the body.
We blend Grapefruit oil with Galbanum to create our Cleanse Balm and Refine Cleansing oil. We love Grapefruit so much that we also use it alone in our Refresh Lip Balm.
Lavender is without doubt the most versatile oil. It is a calming, soothing and balancing oil which can help restore imbalance in both body and mind. Soothes skin disorders such as psoriasis. It inhibits bacteria which can cause skin infection and helps to balance oily skin. Lavender is a great anti-wrinkle treatment and is also commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues.
We blend Lavender with Geranium and Ylang Ylang to create our Comfort products and we also blend it with Frankincense in our Revive face oil.
Marjoram oil is extracted by steam distillation of both fresh and dried leaves of the marjoram plant. It has a spicy, woody scent and is relaxing while mentally strengthening. It relaxes tense muscles after exercise and supports both the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Occasionally, it can be used to relieve simple nervous tension. We blend marjoram with eucalyptus and rosemary to make our Tone muscle balm.
Neroli is obtained from the flowers of the Bitter or Seville orange and takes its name from an Italian princess who used it as her favourite perfume. It is works incredibly well in skincare as it stimulates the growth of healthy new cells therefore can rejuvenate the skin. This fragrant oil works well on all skin types but most effective on dry or sensitive skin. Neroli oil can also help to fade scars and other skin marks.
We blend Neroli with Ylang Ylang to create our Renew Face oil.
Patchouli is a strong, musty smelling oil and comes from the bushy patchouli plant which is native to Malaysia. It is useful in treating a wide array of skin conditions, as well as internal inflammation from conditions like arthritis and gout. As well its anti-inflammatory properties, it is also fungicidal and a cell regenerator making it ideal for treating fungal infections like athlete’s foot and cracked skin problems. Patchouli is also known to act as a deodorant as the strong sweet, spicy and musky aroma of this essential oil can eliminate and mask body odour.
We blend Patchouli with peppermint to create our Fresh Foot Balm.
Peppermint is a European plant which produces a menthol oil with a mild antiseptic affect. It helps control bacteria on the surface of the skin. It is refreshing and cooling.
We blend Peppermint with Patchouli to create our Fresh Foot Balm.
Petitgrain is also obtained from the same orange tree which gives us Neroli making them both part of the same family. It is both an uplifting and relaxing oil which can boost the mood and induces positive thinking. Good for maintaining the moisture and oil balance of the skin as well as for treating acne, pimples, dryness and cracking of the skin. This is a wonderfully refreshing, energizing, and delightfully woody with a floral fragrance.
We blend Neroli and Ylang Ylang to create Renew Face oil.
Rosemary was one of the earliest plants to be used in medicine, used by the Romans, the Ancients Greeks and throughout the Middle Ages. It can help to relieve pain but more importantly is a very good oil for tired, stiff and over worked muscles. It can be used both before and after training.
We blend Rosemary with Marjoram and Eucalyptus to create Tone Muscle balm
Rosewood oil comes mostly from the wood chippings of the Rosewood tree found in the Amazon. It is one of the safest oils to use on sensitive skin due to its gentle, non-irritant nature. It works as a cell re generator making it perfect for older skin as it can also help diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
We blend Rosewood with Galbanum in our men’s Smooth Face Oil
Sweet Orange essential oil is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory which makes it an ideal ingredient in your skincare routine. It's been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, collagen production, and blood flow, all of which are essential for anti-ageing. Orange Essential Oil is beneficial for maintaining the health, appearance, and texture of skin by promoting clarity, radiance, and smoothness, thereby reducing the signs of acne and other skin conditions. Using skin products with sweet essential oil overtime can smooth wrinkles and fine lines. This essential oil is light enough for those with sensitive skin to use and experience little to no irritation. We blend sweet orange with coriander and bergamot in our Nurture Body Oil.
Vetiver is a scented grass native to India and Sri Lanka but now cultivated in the Caribbean. It is from the same botanical family as Lemongrass and Citronella. It has been used in India in perfumes for many years and the dark aroma makes it particularly appealing to men. It works well on oily or acne prone skin. Vetiver also promotes the growth of new tissues helping to achieve a lovely even skin tone.
We blend Vetiver with Cedarwood to create Endure Face oil for men.
Ylang Ylang oil comes from a small tropical tree which grows in the Philipines, Java, Sumatra and Madagascar. It is our favourite oil at Ermana due to its lovely delicate floral fragrance and its many properties. It was originally used in medicine as an antidepressant due to its uplifting effect on mood. It is extremely effective in maintaining moisture and oil balance of the skin and keeps the skin looking hydrated, smooth, and young. So it works to balance both the body and the mind.
We blend Ylang Ylang with Geranium and Lavender in our Comfort Balm, and also with Neroli to create Renew face oil.
