As we become more conscious of what we put into our body, Ermana's ethos is to show as much concern for what we put on our body. Ermana natural skincare products are made from high quality natural and organic ingredients using the best of what Mother Nature has to offer.
I created Ermana due to my own problems with allergies and sensitive skin. Over the years, I tried many skincare brands and found that some caused my skin to flare up. It was so frustrating as I realised that it didn't matter how much I spent on products, some of them simply were not good for my skin.
While immersing myself in books and researching skin allergies, I learned that most reactions are due to the various additives and preservatives that some companies use to make their products.
I decided to learn more about product ingredients and started to develop my own natural skincare products. My skin welcomed the change to natural ingredients. As soon as I started to use my homemade oils and balms on my skin, the condition of my skin improved dramatically. No longer did I have to worry about allergic reactions as I knew exactly what I was applying to my skin and I had confidence in the ingredients.
Friends and family tried out my products as I gifted them for birthdays and Christmas, their response reassured me that it was time to take my hobby more seriously.
In my spare time, I went back to college and studied anatomy, physiology, and aromatherapy. I also studied natural skincare at Regents Park College in London and then set to work on my brand.
My sister, Nicola has been my biggest supporter and has continuously encouraged me to keep working towards my dream of developing my own brand, and so Ermana (taken from the Spanish word for sister) seemed like the perfect name.
As well as being ethical, it is also important that Ermana is a sustainable brand. We only use UK based suppliers for all our ingredients, packaging, bottles and jars as we believe in the growth and promotion of local businesses.
We use amber glass throughout the range not only for its aesthetics but also because it protects the properties of the ingredients from sunlight and oxygen. For the products to work effectively, it is essential that the ingredients are as potent as possible. The other advantage of the amber glass is that it can be recycled or re-used as a decorative accessory.
All Ermana products are hand blended in our kitchen on the south side of Glasgow. Our mission is to provide natural, healthy skincare products for people who want to know exactly what they are putting on their body.
Each product undergoes full cosmetic testing without using animals in the process. We manufacture in small batches to ensure the products are as fresh as possible. This also allows us to control the quality and minimise waste.
All our packaging is eco-friendly and our mailing bags and boxes are fully compostable. In 2018 we made the decision to stop using boxes on all new products in an effort to reduce excess packaging.
In March 2022 we launched our recycling scheme which allows customers to return empty bottles and jars and receive a discount off their next purchase.
We hope you enjoy using the products as much as we enjoy making them
